BofA exec says women and Millennials may reshape the industry

A report from the Investment and Wealth Institute shows that women and Millennials tend to consider the social impact of investing more than other groups.

Jackie VanderBrug, an investment strategist at Bank of America Corp.'s (NYSE: BAC) chief investment office within global wealth and investment management, says a variety of factors contribute to those findings, and although analysts are speaking in general terms, their words are worth noting.

VanderBrug discussed her thoughts on investment trends with Bizwomen's sister publication, the Charlotte Business Journal. Her answers have been edited for length and clarity.

I think part of that is women are holistic thinkers, and that historically, they are thinking in an integrated way, and they are also doing the shopping and seeing what is in the products. So, they're thinking about the chemicals in the shampoo for their kids' hair, and they're thinking about what's happening in terms of the safety of the vehicles they're driving. All of those things matter to them. ... What investments really are, how we're creating the world we're going to live in, what are we investing in?
