Diverse teams make better decisions, says chief executive

Female representation on the board of the Investment Association has almost doubled after the trade body that represents the UK’s £9tn asset management industry appointed three women as directors.
The fresh faces are Caroline Connellan, chief executive of wealth manager Brooks Macdonald, Michelle Scrimgeour, head of Columbia Threadneedle’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Hanneke Smits, who has served as CEO of Newton since 2016.
They will take the number of women serving on the IA’s 18-strong board to seven.
Chris Cummings, IA chief executive, said the trade body was committed to increasing diversity in the UK fund industry.
